    Vest Storage

In the kind of near future a vest is goin to become less of a burden and more of a shield for me, so quite simply what is the best way to store a ballistic vest in order to keep it operational?

Should SAAPI Plates be removed or can they stay in the thing forever?

Any other care or consideration factors? About all we get told is not to put them in the dryers.

I either stand mine up or lay it flat on a shelf in the closet. In the house, the heat/cold/humidity is fairly well controlled.

I do not disassemble unless I am washing the cover.

You could query the mfr and see what they have to say on the topic.

My vests lay flat when not on me. If they are sweaty the get wiped off before being placed on a towel covered flat surface. My rifle plates stay in the vest pockets unless they need to be wiped down.

I do the same. I would imagine yours will need to be aired out and wiped down when the day is done... mine do.

When we wear them in the field they need wiped down usually, and we are outside so they get aired out. Mine is usually flat I guess, with all the SAAPIs in.

Thanks for the responses. Just got a brand new vest so I figured I better make sure I take care of it so it takes care of me.
