    Cargo pants?

    Hi everyone,

I'm in the market for a pair of quality cargo pants, but need a little help.

5.11 and Blackhawk seem to have the majority of the market, but I'm unsure of their actual quality. I'm looking for opinions on any brand you feel is high quality and why. Also, any idea if there are any quality American made cargo pants?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

    cargo pants

If you have up to a 42 waist,Walmart has Wrangler cargo pants for less than $20.00 a pair. The front pockets hide a 642 with no issues. They have them is camo, black, and indigo blue. Hope that helps.

Checkout Cabelas. They have a few different styles and a crap load of colors to pick from.

I think the best cargo pants out there are the Orvis Zambezi Twill Cargo pants, and they are priced like they are the best as well.

I really like Eddie Bauer pants...it's like they were built for pocket carry. I also really like the pair of Mountain Khaki's I just got. It has a double pocket on the Right Front. The inner holds my 442 and the outer holds other stuff and helps conceal the gun. It is a very nicely made pair of pants.

I'm finding myself wearing Tru-Spec pants these days - they are basically the ACU pants in more reasonable colors. Of course, I'm not wearing them to Wal-Mart these days, but I prefer them to the 5.11s for a number of reasons...

The cargo pockets are bigger, and have a little "inner" pocket within them.
    They have calf-pockets.
The belt loops are "normal" sized, so I can wear my holster the way I am most comfortable.
They don't have the silly strap in the back.
    The back pockets are normal.
    They're a bit cheaper...

+1....Try the Woolrich Elite brand. Had the 5.11 They are nice but the woolrich just seem a little roomierand move better and seem to be put together a little better.

I have just shifted from " jeans " to " cargo " i wear the wall mart ( i think they are dickies ) carpenter pants . I wear them due to the " tool " pockets which work well for my pliers as wel as other crap i can stuff in there . For myself i am not going to pay for " cargo " pants , but should i i would as so far as i can see buy the blackwaters . They at least have elastic bands to confine mags .

With all the various pockets in the cargo style of pants, I wonder if anyone has ever calculated the MPLC (maximum pant load capacity) of them.

I have not, but my Orvis Zambezi Twill cargo pants are good for a Kimber Ultra in the cargo pocket, or a Kahr. You can put one on each side just fine. There is no printing as the main compartments have outer compartments over them that hide the bulges.
