Hey all, I'm in the process of testing to get hired onto the police force and into the academy in the phoenix area. Just curious as to what duty boots have been the favorites? I dont want to go cheap on boots as it can make a day miserable pretty quick! My 3 biggest concerns are comfort, being able to run in them pretty well and that they aren't too hot as the Phoenix/Mesa area can get kind of ridiculous! Suggestions? Danner, Bates, 5.11? Thanks everyone!
I know that Danner is what NDHP uses, they can be pricey, but look very promising.

I wear Oakley SI Assault boots
Best feeling boots I've ever worn
they feel like a good basketball/tennis shoe but they are made for abuse
these are issued to some military units, come in black and tan
$99, comfortable even while standing on concrete all day at the range, numerous officers in our department wear them, good to have when running through dark alleys, backyards, crime scenes with various fluids on the floor, etc
easy to wash off,
did I mention they're comfortable

No longer military but I still like a good boot. I wear Magnum brand and the particular style I have is "Stealth II" duty boot.

I have a couple pair of Danner's, IMO, they are the best. In the summer, I prefer a chukka, and I wear Rocky's for those.

Original SWAT boots.
Our tracking teams uses only them, My guys have tried more expensive boots, but Original SWAT boots fit better and wear better.

Sixto, what particular model of danner do you prefer?
I'm not LEO but I am on my feet 12-16 hrs. a day.
+1 on the Magnums. I have a pair of 5.11 Haste in 6" and a pair of 8" Magnum Phantoms (water proof). The Hastes are cooler but the Phantoms are much more comfortable for walking and running.
I would look into something from Magnum that is not water proof.
Oakley SI Assault boots are the best. Great if the stiuations calls for fast movement as well.

I've worn 5.11's and they are great. I currently wear Magnum Stealth Forces and am really impressed with them. Danner Acadia Hot's would be great for working in AZ. I would get them (since I'm now in AZ, despite what my screen name says) but they have too much metal in them and I can't pass through the metal detector at work without having to take them off.
I don't wear a uniform away from my restaurant now, but I wear 10" desert tanker boots day-to-day. I'm unsure of the brand, but the number is 4407 (Google "4407 Boots"). My only complaint is that they are not waterproof.
The preceding post may contain sarcasm; it's just better that way. However, it is still intended with construction and with the Love of my L-rd Y'shua.

So what have people found to be best for them as far as how high the boot goes. Such as a 8 inch or 6 inch, I think for the most part the 8 is going to be more stable but has anyone else noticed any other pros or cons?
Danner has been, for me, the best boot by far. As far as boot height, I would go with the 8" version. By the way, don't be that guy that gets black tennis shoes (a lot of guys I work with do that). They do let you chase bad guys faster but don't provide any foot protection from glass, blood, urine, fecal matter, etc. Speaking of which, water proof boots (such as Danner's) aren't necessarily a bad idea either....
