Opinions on IWB mag pouches (1911s)

So! It's that time of the year again. You know, the time right before other people give you presents, where you spend your money preparing to give presents but are still able to treat yourself without getting glared at (much) by significant others.

Order of business today: inside-waistband pouches for 1911 magazines.

Looking for something only slightly related, I stumbled across Bulman Gunleather's DCMP, or Deep Cover Magazine Pouch. Perfect! Price... not so much.

To be clear, I am not ruling out the Bulman mag pouch; if it's all I've got it's what I'll get. However, I'd like to know what other options I have in this world of magazine pouches meant to be concealed, because my own searches aren't finding me much. Using the Bulman DCMP as my upper limit, my budget for this can't top $65.

    Thanks in advance,

    -B

Tucker gun leather makes them for $40.00. I'm sure there are plenty of others as well.

They hurt like hell, I don't care what brand. The skinny mag dig right in and don't quit. I wear an IWB holster all day, but a mag is a whole different story.

Could you explain? I'm not a large person (5'9" and under a buck fifty), so I don't have anything for the mag to dig into. I'm playing around with a spare mag by tucking it "IWB" style in several spots on my support side and only found a couple that would get uncomfortable quick.

Most of my sidearm holsters are IWB's. They are comfortable because they hug the body and disappear under a loose shirt.
Mags, however, are much harder to pull when tucked tightly next to the body. I have also found them to dig into the body in a different way than the pistol with the 'L' shape of the barrel and grip.
Even in OWB holsters, the mag 'can' tend to dig in...IWB holsters for mags just don't work well...OMO

I gain nothing with an IWB mag holder. My OWB (Sparks and Brommeland) ride high enough to evade observation. The bottom of the pouch is just below the belt. If you can hide an IWB holster, you can hide an OWB mag pouch. You may be skinny enough for the top of the magazine to avoid poking you in the side, but the vast majority of us aren't. I guess I was once...

I occasionally wear a Milt Sparks IWB mag pouch (Model IPS).

I have no comfort issues with it.

That's pretty much the design I was looking for, Captain Crunch. I like the looks of the Bulman, but I'm seeing a few leather IWB mag pouches and most are hovering around $40. The OWB ones ride high, which is exactly the problem for thinner folk since they stick out more than the gun itself would.

If they have a leather flap between you and the mag then they can be "ok". If not, they never will be comfortable.
