How well does the 5.11 tactical vest's inside pocket (the 2 concealed carry compartments) accommodate a full sized handgun (standatd size Glock / Glock 17, 22, 31, etc)?
Thanks for feedback.

It won't very well . There's no stability and it's just canvas cotton.
I have one and seldom wear it.
The supposed stability comes from valcro strips inside the vest pocket...you can use a holster that clings to the inside of the pocket. You would be able to put a Glock inside the vest pocket, but it would be extremely bulky and not at all stable...very difficult to draw in an adrenaline rush emergency.

I use the vest just to cover my belt holster. It does work well for a small BUG like a S&W 642 or pocket auto......the lighter the better.

The 5.11 vest was my first cover garment I bought just after I got my CCL. I had an XD 45 service and an XD 9mm sc, no way the service would fit and the XD 9mm would fit in the holster, but was too thick, not to mention it pulled the garment noticeably to the drooping to the left.
It is a good place for a BUG, like a Kel-tec or something like it. The 5.11 also suffers from what I like to call the "shoot me first" syndrome" You can really look out of place walking down the street wearing it. Especially if you buy a lot of 5.11 apparel.![]()

I hear ya on the CC issues.
I was considering the vest for when I go to the range. Esp when I go to Bass Pro and they want to check everything. I'm tired of carrying in bags / cases and figured I could just slip on the vest and go CC.
4-6 mags, a .22 LR conversion for the Glock, rounds, and 2 - 3 firearms makes the pants start to slip when trying to CC it all.
Heavy drooping and extremely bulky are not words I wanted to hear, guess I just need to bite the bullet, and get a shoulder holster.
I'll still grab a cheap vest, but no point spending the cash on the 5.11 given the feedback. Thanks...
Still willing to hear more thoughts if anyone has one on the 5.11 vest.

I have several vest, 5.11, SIG TAC, Orvis to name a few.
Carrying a firearm in a vest concealment pocket is not very comfortable and less accessible than on your body. Using a vest allows me to be a little more comfortable by using an OWB holster instead of my usual IWB holster.
That being said, the SIG TAC vest is a lot lighter and to me more comfortable than the 5.11 vest.
Just my thoughts...![]()
