    Really super nice Sarge.
In the past I've seen lots of camel bone grips being sold as elephant ivory.
The camel bone is so nice in its own right.
Those camel bone grips sure did not look near as nice as yours though.
    Love the BloodWood accent BTW.

Thank you! Camel bone is really a nice alternative for Ivory I'm finding. Much cheaper too. I still have some Ivory blanks sitting around because I haven't decided what to turn them into - gov's, bob's or perhaps Fusion bob's? I don't know. Too many choices. Maybe I'll just duct tape the raw slabs to the sides of my Glock. That would be cool, right?

This set is what I call "tweeners" as they're between my Ultra Thins which are 1/8" thick, and stock thickness grips. There seems to be a need for this gap to be filled, judging by the amount of email I get requesting it. Anyway, thw wood is Box Elder Burl and as you can see, this wood is beautiful. The figure never seems to end with it, and it's been on my favorites list for a long time.
    Enjoy!

Tulipwood is the wood for today. Great color combo in this wood with the cream giving way to the red.
    Enjoy!

Here's a set I made over the weekend for my own personal Fusion bobtail. They are Amboyna Burl, and I like the way they go with both the brightly colored Fusion medallion and the flat black of the IonDLC finish. Still no chop even though the Fusion "bob" is sharper than the DW CBOB. All rounded and very comfortable to hold, shoot and carry.

A nice example of ray cut Box Elder Burl. This wood can have so many different looks depending on how you cut it.
    Beautiful stuff!

Todays beautiful wood moment features Spalted Maple. The dark lines and areas that you see in this wood are caused by a fungus that grows in the dead wood and which is ultimately the reason that dead trees eventually disappear. If you harvest the fallen wood too early, the spalt hasn't grown yet. Too late, and the wood is so soft it literally crumbles in your hand. harvesting at the right time gives you beauty like this. I always have wood like this professionally stabilized to ensure that it's more than tough enough for use in grip panels.
    Enjoy!

Sarge, I have posted on here before what beautiful grips you have and I am amazed at next set that you bring out. Just like traveling in the mountains when you round that next bend and see a scene that is more gorgeous than the one before it - scenic overkill. That is what this is - SCENIC OVERKILL! You truly are an artist.

Can you make those slim for a compact (bone only)?

All I can say is WOW! 90% of those shown are amazing!

I used to do a lil woodwork with diamond willow. I always wondered how grips made of this would look.

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the pics!
The camel bone would be a good candidate for slims IF blanks that are wide enough can be found. Most blanks that I can find are just under 1 1/2" in width, which makes them a hair too thin to use for grips that fit the frame. I've got a supplier digging through his stuff looking for wider pieces. I told him to just start growing bigger camels.

Todays wood is Koa from Hawaii. It has been used for centuries for everything from jewelry to instruments, to weaponry. It has a great rich brown color and can have some wild streaking running through it. The piece that these grips came from ovbiously had some outstanding tiger stripe figure in it. It really shows up as you rotate the grips under ligh. Great wood!
