What's new at Sarge's Grips

Todays set is another Australian wood - Corrugata Burl. Almost a carmel color in this set with wild graining below, and great burl clusters toward the top. Just another run of the mill OUTSTANDING wood. The second photo is somewhat bleached out. The first one is much better for an idea of the color.

Todays set is some great Box Elder Burl. Lot's of burl coverage and even some rays of curl figure in there. Of course, it has the unbelievable depth that BE burl always seems to have as well.

Hi, Sarge:
Thought you might like to see the grips that you posted pictures of,8/8/09, on my 1977 Colt 1911 GM. This is with the .22Conversion unit installed. It is part of the Switch cal. set that I have built up, .22LR- .45ACP- .38Auto- .38Super- .41A&E- & 9mm Luger. The Set is shown before I installed your grips on the pistol

I like the wood grips better than the other ones, but I'm biased.

Todays wood is shown in a set of EMP grips - Black and White Ebony. The patterns in this wood are always gorgeous! The flat yellow cream back color and stark, sharp black veining in the "ink blot" patterns really go together and make for highly unique grips.

Rorschach Test grips.

They DO look like some of the old landscape Master Drawings done by artists which were pen & ink and then had transparent washes added for shading and depth.

Figured I'd give you another set to look at, since everyone like the first one so much. Same wood, different block.

Other than that, todays set is in a very lightweight, but very tough wood called Baing Burl from SE Asia. Very cool, course looking graining and burl circles make this wood an eye catcher. One of those woods I didn't know existed until I stumbled across it. Makes me wonder how many others there are out there? Anxious to find out.

I think there are a lot of people who make a point to stop by every morning and see the next featured wood. Everyone should start their day off with a little of natures beauty. Some of these woods, they may never see again. I'm glad people are enjoying it.
