I hope everyone survived the holidays and is now ready to settle back into the normal work routine......
Todays set is bob'd and done in Beeswing Narra. The beeswing refers to the figure found in the wood - a distinct curly figure that flat out cool. The red color of the Narra is great on stainless or black frames. The wood is also very solid and hard, making it ideal for grip panels.
Enjoy the pics, and welcome back!

Todays set is done in Corrugata Burl from Australia. A beautiful wood that has a great carmel color and all kinds of burl pattern to it. Hard and dense, another great wood for grips.
    Enjoy!

    Gorgeous work.
As soon as we're fully solvent again I'll be a customer.

WOW!! Those grips rank right up there with Amboyna Burl!

Can you do a set of those for a 1911?

What's this "1911" you speak of?
I believe I'm all out of Corrugata burl right now unfortunately. I have one set of bob's that's going to hit the site shortly, but no more. I will get more in though, it's a gorgeous wood.

Todays set is in Teak Burl. Not much of this around. Teak has a burl that's different than most other woods. As in the Corrugata from yesterday, most burls have larger round burl eyes or clusters - Teak burl comes across more like dots. It can still have the wild movement in the wood as shown in this set, but it can also be very "clear" with just a bunch of dots. Odd but beautiful wood.
    Enjoy the pics!

The set o' the day today is done in Black and White Ebony. This particular set was done from a blank that was buried and forgotten way back on one of my shelves in the shop. I was pleasantly surprised when I found it. A very nice pattern in the blank.
    Enjoy!

Love the Black and White Ebony!
On a side note, what happened today? You are late! I was starting to worry. But seriously, thanks for the eye-candy.

Yeah, we had a snow storm here in KC and it all landed on the leftovers from the previous snow storm which was basically ice by now. Not a good situation. I had to wait for the snowplows to clear a path on my street before I could get out and into the office. Glad you noticed though!

If you ever do make a set in Corrugata Burl for a 1911, I will be all over it! That is, of course, assuming you don't tempt me too badly first with a perfect set in Amboyna Burl (!).

I honestly don't know where Kingman is, but I'm in KC. If you ever get over this way, swing by the shop and pick your own blank brother!
Sorry guys, no pic today, it's friday and I'm in the shop having a blast making more grips. Just swing in while checking email.
    See ya'll monday!

It's roughly 50 miles west of Wichita, but if I have the occasion to come to KC I would be seriously stoked to pay a visit. Thanks for the invite!
