Well, let's just keep the whole Amboyna thing going with another set, but this time, it's one that's mixed between the sapwood and the heartwood. A beautiful mix to be sure. Very sharp and striking contrast.
    Enjoy the pics!

Todays wood is another gorgeous example of crosscut Macassar Ebony. The first block caused a stir across many forums and this block will probably do the same. Look at the pattern of the graining in this wood! That along with the unique color combinations make this stuff stand out and make you just stare at it.
    Hope you enjoy the pics!

How about some beeswing figure Narra? Great color, hard wood, very cool figure - what's not to like? Another beautiful wood from SE Asia.
I hope everyone had a great and safe 4th!

    Yeah, I remember those.
just got in a whole shark pelt. It's not as rough as I thought it would be, but I'm anxious to make some grips from it. It'll be durable, that's for sure!

I don't think I've put these up yet, but they are next in the lineup as luck would have it (we're still about 9 pages back). This is the "new" block of Macassar Ebony and it too is a great example of the possibilities of this wood when crosscut. The beauty of nature just can't be outdone in my book.
    Enjoy the pics,

Another wood with beautiful coloring and great contrasting is Brazilian Rosewood. It can vary quite a bit in both, but this is a fairly good "normal" representation of the wood.

Today I figured I'd show another option to checkering that is called "stippling". Stippling is basically a golf ball style dimple pattern, but the dimples overlap leaving a point at every intersection. The result is a grip enhancing texture that won't snag clothing or wear holes in shirts during daily carry. Stippling can also be done in just about any pattern you wish, so it's easy to be unique with it. This set is Gabon Ebony with the stippling.
