Today's wood is an Australian beauty - Corrugata Burl. Dramatic and mesmerizing burl eyes make this wood not only a pleasure to see, but an absolute blast to work with as with every operation you perform, you uncover new beauty. When you stop and think that you're the FIRST person to EVER see this, it's kinda cool.......
Anyway, it's beautiful stuff, and I hope you enjoy the pics!

    Another "something different" this morning......
How about lizard skin? I'm the first to admit, that I don't know much about snakes and lizards except that they don't stay alive long if they come into my foxhole. :D I bought some Ring Lizard pelts and this is the first set from them. I've been looking to get into more skin type grips as just another style to offer. So far, I've got stingray, lizard, and I have a shark skin that I have yet to get into.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pics!

Wow! Over 30,000 views! I guess someone is enjoying the view...... ;)
Todays set is done in Water Buffalo horn. What makes this material interesting, is that it's not bone. It's actually hair that has grown together and is somehow hardened into the horns. I don't pretend to know how that works, but if someone does, please share it with the rest of us. Anyway, this allows for some beautiful patterns in the material and in this set, you can see the stark white streaks running through the panels. It's beautiful stuff, that's for sure!
    Hope you enjoy it,

Very interesting material, Sarge! And beautiful on the stainless(!).

Does that buff horn smell bad when you have to cut/rout it? I was picturing the smell of burnt hair, LOL!

Yes, it does. Imagine burning hair and you've got it. ;)

PS - I just ordered some rattlesnake skin and will probably order some python as well. I kinda like the "skin" look.

Redwood Burl is another gorgeous wood found right here in the United States. It often has dramatic graining running around burl clusters containing multiple eyes in groups. A wide and varied beauty can be found in this species. I'm sure other of it's varieties will show up here over time.
    Enjoy!

    LOL, glad you liked that.

If I'm doing this right, an image of a bass guitar with an Arbutus Burl top should show up..........

Uh, I have bad news for you brother......Sarge not seeing any pic.......

While Nekron is figuring out the picture thing, I'll post the next wood. Flame box elder has the depth that Box Elder is known for, but also has bright red streaking or patterns in it. In the burl, it's nothing short of spectacular! In the "regular" wood, it's still quite an attention getter. This set is for the Sig P238 and also has some great curly figure to boot.
    Enjoy the pics!

I came across this piece of walnut and couldn't wait to get it fabricated! It's a beautiful example of Walnut! Multi colored and even has some wonderful curly figure. I like it when our own "home" woods can hang with Enjoy the pics!
