Tonight I thought I'd show off my new custom Fusion CCO that I picked up last week. I won't be the first to fire her as she's going off tomorrow with my Wilson BWC CQB, and my Dan Wesson CCO for a CCO shootout conducted by gunsmith extraordinaire Dave Severns over the Labor Day weekend. She's wearing solid Carbon Fiber grips......I wonder where she got those? ;D
    Enjoy the pics!

Here's a couple of sets done in rare Kauila wood from Hawaii. If you can cut your own blanks, you can match the graining to the shape of your grip shape.
    Enjoy,

Here are the first two sets of genuine Rattlesnake skin that I've done. They were a lot of fun to do and half the fun was figuring out how to adhere the skin to the substrate in such a way that shooting will not be a problem and make it loosen over time. It's a lot of fun developing new systems for things like this.
    Hope you enjoy the pics!

Todays wood is a gorgeous and natural 3 color set of Afzelia Xylay grips. I really like this wood in both it's Xylay and burl forms. Beautiful stuff, but it can be hard to find the high figure xylay any more. Well worth the effort when you do though!
    Enjoy,

A beautiful example of Buckeye Burl with the blue/green/cream mix. This wood is just gorgeous and is so varied in each piece, it's almost unbelievable!
    Enjoy the pic.

Beautiful stuff as always. I just sent the link to my Dad since he just picked up a Sig P238 and is looking to upgrade the grip panels

    Cheers!

Hope you all enjoyed the holiday weekend!
Todays offering is Madrone Burl. It's got a very nice and unique color that can range from brown to red to a watermelon. The burl of course, also has the nice pattern and figure to it. Beautiful stuff!

Todays wood is a special Bubinga that was quartersawn and just came alive. Multiple paths of flow and a depth that can only be appreciated when it's in your hand. Stuff like this is what makes Bubinga one of my favorite all time woods.

Bubinga never really did a lot for me, BUT I have to say that you've made that sample look really nice(!).

You're going to make some Chuck Norris commemorative 1911 grips with it? LOL!

I know many people prefer the all blue/green buckeye burl, but to me the extreme cream and blue mix is king. I just love this stuff!

    Sarge,

It's difficult to tell from the above pictures of the raw material (skin), but when your done how similar (color and tone) do you expect the final product to compare to the Bobtail grips you've previously sold?

I have a Kimber Stainless Raptor II (custom aka full sized), been searching for a long time for natural grips that match the Raptor's design.

I'd love to pre-order some if they are likely to look very similar to the Bobtails you previously sold.

    Take care,

Todays sets are both done in Python. I'm on a real snakeskin kick lately.
