Well, it's after 3 am and I'm still up, so why not post up some pics? :D
Here's some beautiful and native spalted Maple burl. Gorgeous stuff with a lot going on in there! Notice the slight greying present in different areas along with the burl pattern AND some curl figure. This stuff is just stunning! I even like the bark inclusions, but I'm a sucker for such things. These are, as you can see in the pics, slims. I hope you enjoy the pics, I just wish you could actually see them "in hand" as that's the only way you can really appreciate all they have to offer.

Asian Satinwood is a lightweight wood, but boy does it grab your attention! This set exhibits the great curl figure it can have along with a consistent light color. When working it, the sanded wood has a baby powder soft feel to it. It's quite cool. When finished, the wood has a great depth and reflects the light around inside and back out at you.
    Great stuff courtesy of Nature.
Enjoy, and have a great and SAFE New Years night!

Here's and interesting piece of Box Elder Burl. The bottom portions have the burl in a ray cut and also at an angle up through the panels for a very cool look. Every once in a while you cut something and it comes out according to plan. Just more of the beauty of nature exposed for us to see.
    Enjoy the pics!

Another gorgeous example of Maple Burl. Look at the beauty that this wood holds! Not only the burl patterns, but the curl figure running between them and the subtle color differences that catch your eye. I am just in awe of this type of thing every time I cut into a block and find it. Absolutely amazing.......

Todays wood is Moradillo. I am a big fan of the rich color in this wood! A rich chocolate color with graining that is dark brown to off black and can range from fairly straight to completely wild. Strong and solid, it is an ideal wood for use in grips.
    Enjoy!

How about Masur Birch from Finland? Always tremendous, tight figure and markings. It's a very interesting wood. The figure is caused by the tree fighting off damage by bugs.
    Beautiful!

How about Bethlehem Olive wood? This wood it trimmed once a year from Olive trees growing in Bethlehem and is absolutely stunning! The graining is beautiful and if you look close, you'll even see a small bit of burl in the upper center of each panel. It's great stuff, and I hope you enjoy the pics!

I love this thread! I think I want to get a stainless 1911 just for those Moradillo grips!

Here's a set in Anaconda skin that just went out. I can't get over this stuff, it's just flat out cool! It also has a texture to it where the plates/scales meet. It looks like armor!

Hold on to your socks! Honduran Rosewood Burl that is just drop dead gorgeous! This can be hard to find, and when you can find it, it's EXPENSIVE, but it's worth it to see beauty like this! Unbelievably intricate patterns along with the wide range of rich colors - it's just hard to get any better than this.
    Enjoy the pics!
