The wood o' the day is Redwood Burl from California. This wood can have such stunning beauty. This set shows some of what is possible. Waves of graining flowing around tiny eyes. The red color set off by the blood red or even purple eyes. It's wonderful stuff!

Spalted Tamarind is another one of the worlds beautiful woods. Cream color interrupted by fine pencil line spalt in wild patterns, it really gets your attention. The set shown today also has the grey which is sometimes present in the wood.
Beautiful stuff!
Enjoy the pics,

Have you done any grips in Pink Ivory Wood yet?
An amazing wood to work with & nearly as dense as Ivory.
It "works" like Pink SnakeWood.
African legend has it that only the village chief was allowed to own/possess the wood or anything made from it.
For any African Non~Royal caught with even a bit of sacred Pink Ivory Wood the punishment was death.
You need to seal it within a reasonable amount of time or the beautiful bright pink heartwood will eventually turn a darker tan pink.
It's also quite a rare wood but, there is a fair amount of it listed on Ebay right now.
Hey QKS! Yes, I have used Pink Ivory in the past, but I haven't seen much of a demand for it in pistol grips. Gave some of my gallery furniture a unique look though!
Todays set is interesting because of all the movement in with the stark pattern of the Snakewood. This wood continues to surprise me with newfound beauty as I work my way through the logs.
Enjoy,

Todays wood is Sugi, from Japan. A very warm light brown color with straighter graining crossed by wonderfully rolling figure, it's a beautiful wood! Depth for days!

I know there is a pair just up the page, but this set of Redwood Burl is just over the top and needs to be shown.
I'll let the beauty of the wood do the talking!

Brown Bubinga with the curl figure is not only a beautiful wood, but one that's ideal for hard and daily use as it's hard and tough. It's always been a personal favorite of mine, from the gallery furniture days, right up to now.
Enjoy!

Damn...somebody is finding you some of the nicest, finest exotic wood that I've ever laid eyes on. Breathtaking examples. And of course knowing how best to cut it and map out your grips to maximize the beauty is all on you & you are a master.![]()
QKS - Thank you. Very much. :)
I hope everyone is not only enjoying their Memorial Day, but also taking time to remember the HUGE sacrifice that those the day honors have made for us. Make a point of telling your children why we have this day. Ensure that they understand that freedom is never free. Thank God for those that have gone before that gave us the freedoms that we enjoy today. HOOAH!

What grips would go with Memorial Day? How about some Service medallions?
