In contrast to yesterdays "dirty" BEM grips, today I'll post a pic of an absolutely spectacular set of BEM grips. Clear, packed with eyes, and with unbelievable depth.
    Enjoy the pics!

Todays wood is Asian Walnut. Two sets featured, one light and one dark. Asian Walnut is hard stuff and well suited for use in grips. The fact that it can have intense, sharp curl figure certainly doesn't hurt either. Enjoy the beauty!

Today we have an example of Black and White Ebony that veers from the "normal" (if there is such a thing in wood) color combination to a much darker than usual combination. Instead of the creamy yellow color being broken by stark black rivers of color, this set has a 50/50 mix of the two resulting in a beautiful and overall grey appearance in the set. Just more beauty of nature for us all to enjoy!

Today, the darkest natural wood in the world - Gabon Ebony. It is often used for clarinets etc due to it's "tonality" (I'm told that's a real word :D ), hardness and uniform blackness in top pieces. Much of this wood has some streaking to it that I personally find beautiful. Sometimes it comes as silver streaks, sometimes as just slightly lighter areas, the visual difference it very subtle but cool.
    Enjoy!

I've never quite understood why it's the NARRA tree that gives us AMBOYNA Burl - why wouldn't it be Narra burl? Anyway, here is a set in Narra that has some cool, cutting curl figure to it. Same rich, beautiful coloring as the Amboyna (from the same tree), but without the burl eyes, so it's Narra. If you can tell me why it's this way, please clue me in. Until then, enjoy the beauty!

Today we have some all black Stingray. Definitely a pleasing combination of "all business" and "oh, that's COOL!". Stingray skin is covered by thousands of small beads of varying sizes that protect the animal from predators. It's also pretty hand at providing grip!
    Enjoy the pics!

While we're on dark materials, we can't forget buffalo horn. Seldom is it black, but instead a dark DARK Brown and is often found with ghost veining that is spectacular. This set shows some of that ghosting if you can stand my pictures. ;)
    Hope you enjoy it!

    Sarges grips

Beautiful work brother! I'm new to the thread and only did so to reach out to you. Have you ever worked with other organic material? Stone? And, have you ever come across a wood with a deep blood red and black to the grain swirls?
I recently picked up the P238 Nitron, only due to a smokin deal, because I was going to get the lady. Now, until I get her also, I'd like to do a custom red grip and filigree engraving on the nitron. I couldn't find it a third time, but you did an amazing piece that was an orange grain inside of black, and it almost looked like fire... Something RED in black, would be perfect...
Thanks in advance for even reading this.
I look forward to any suggestions.

Beautiful Dot Ebony. This wood can range from almost all black, to a very nice mix of black and cream, to mostly cream with small black torpedos running through it. Very nice stuff!
    Enjoy!

Todays wood is Box Elder Burl. Known for its wonderful depth and intricate patterns, it's utterly gorgeous. Many add stain to it to "enhance" it, but I am of the opinion that nature got ti right and prefer it in it's natural state. Hope you enjoy it too!
