This wood is Borneo Rosewood. Gorgeous red color with darker veining running through in wonderful patterns. Great stuff! This set was done for an SA EMP.
    Enjoy the pics,

Sometimes you come across an ugly piece of wood, but something about it makes you take it home and cut it up. This set came from such a piece - greyed out and cracked up but something about it said "take a chance" so I did. The result is this gorgeous set of grips with all of it's colors and movement. Sometimes you just gotta go with your gut.
    Enjoy!

One more set of Ivory and we'll get back to the woods. This is a slim set in natural Elephant Ivory cut for the Dan Wesson VBOB. The hand fitting and rounding of all potential corners is what sets my bobtails apart and draws people to them. the ultimate in comfort, fit and beauty. Of course, Ivory on a black frame is just over the top as far as looks and class are concerned. A beautiful combination!

There's a lot of fine jewelry in this thread for sure.

Thank you kjsl105, I'm very glad you can appreciate the beauty of nature! It's really impossible to improve on what's available to us in natural materials. Many people just don't bother to look.

    Thanks QKS! I appreciate it!
Todays wood is Afrcian Blackwood. Similar in appearance to Wenge, but more dense and a little "smoother" in appearance and workability, African Blackwood is a tough, dark wood that allows you to have quite a lot of visual interest, without being loud. An ideal choice for those who like the all business look of an all dark pistol, or those who want a dramatic eye catching two tone look on a stainless frame.
    Beautiful stuff!

The forum always slows up every year right about now.

    You sure that's African Blackwood?

I guess it is 'cause you sure do know yer exotic wood species but, that has to be quite rare.

QKS - Yes, I'm sure that's African Blackwood :D If you know it by another name, that wouldn't be uncommon though. Many exotics have as many as 7 or 8 names. I don't know why, but they do. African Blackwood isn't especially rare, but it is nice. ;)

Todays wood is Venezuelan Rosewood. Normally a grey to dark grey wood with darker veining running through it, it can sometimes have a purple hue to it as well. Either way, it's beautiful stuff!

Todays set is done in Honduran Rosewood Burl. Gorgeous stuff! Also, very hard to find. I've been looking and will continue to do so, but I've only found two good blocks so far in all my time doing grips.
    Enjoy the pics!

Todays set is Black and White Ebony. Known for its stark contrasting colors, it is beautiful and also hard. Sometimes the black lines are so close together and fine, that it appears overall grey, but it's always beautiful!
    Cool stuff! Enjoy the pics!
