Off Topic to your latest offerings but, I always meant to mention that you make the cleanest & most perfect grip screw & bushing holes.
    Very important on 1911 grips.
That is where so many other 1911 grip makers really fall short big time.
I've seen some grips that were purchased by others where the grip screws would bottom out on the bushings & with holes so out of spec & misaligned that the grips would go on crooked and wobble around with the screws all the way tightened down.
Very sloppy even though the wood itself was very nice.

Yours are always flawless. Like so....

Folks should also remember to check their firearm grip screw bushings carefully before installing a properly fitting set of grips.
Make sure that those bushings are not chewed up & burred.

Traditionally 1911 grip screw bushings are INTENTIONALLY left soft/annealed and are never hardened.
That is so the fine threads on the bushings will always deform FIRST rather than the bushing threads "stripping out" and chewing up the 1911 frame threads when "staked in" grip screw bushings are removed.

Another bit of 1911 Trivia presented by QKShooter. <~~~

Thanks QKShooter, I appreciate it! Good info there too. ;)
Todays set is an interesting set of Stag. This set really looked a lot like Mastadon tusk. The grooves and surface cracks really made it cool, in my humble opinion.
    Enjoy!

Those are really nice. On a deep, custom Hot Blued 1911 they would look magnificent.

Quite the little "diamond in the rough" you got there. Nice!

The log on the end bottom had the signs of having great figure, so I pulled over and put it in the back. When I cut it up, boy was I surprised at the beauty! It took time to cut it up and then to properly dry it, but below is a small sample of the beauty the log held. All natural too! You just never know......

    Hey Nekron, welcome back!

Once again, I'm jumping WAY ahead in order here, but this set is too cool to let just sit in photobucket, so here you go - over the top gorgeous Walnut Burl! What you can't see is the great depth and curl figure down inside.
    Enjoy!

Thanks, good to be back! I enjoyed catching up.

Got anything in Buckeye Burl for 1911? Especially if there's some of the cream color running through it?

Todays sets are for Nekron, at his request. Buckeye Burl with cream. All natural to boot!

When we think of Stag grips, at least to me, it conjures up images of the rougher brown outside of the horn itself. What I have found is that there is a demand at least as large, and possibly larger for the INTERIOR of the Stag with the rough exterior sanded away. It displays a wonderful range of color as you can see. Just more beautiful stuff from nature!
    Enjoy the pic!

Todays set is some gorgeous multi colored Macassar Ebony. Instead of the usual brown with black veining, this block had multiple colors and great separation and is just gorgeous!
    Enjoy the pics!

A beautiful, richly colored wood is in todays spotlight - Narra. Narra is the name of the tree that gives us Amboyna Burl. I must have been out the day they took the vote to name two different woods from the same tree, but the burl of the tree is Amboyna Burl, not Narra Burl. I don't know why. At any rate, Narra has the same color and in this case, also has vibrant and deep figure to it that brings it up equal to it's siamese twin Amboyna. It should not be overlooked!
Enjoy the pics and have a great Thanksgiving Holiday!

I hope you all had a safe and great Thanksgiving Holiday!
Today's feature is another snake skin set done in a white viper. I don't honestly know the exact type of viper, but I do know that it's cool stuff! The natural texture of the scales gives great grip and the color/pattern speak for themselves.
    Enjoy!
