Anyone have VZ grips for their 1911?

I just received a set of VZ grips. I ordered the "desert blonde diamond back" like shown in this pic:

    Gallery Gun

These are made from their canvas micarta. They are made extremely well and fit perfectly, but something happened that just plain bothers me. After I was done installing them, I took my silicone cloth and wiped down the gun to get all the fingerprints off, and anywhere the cloth touched the grips, it seemed to stain the micarta, creating dark smudges along the edges of the grips. And after handling the gun for awhile, the oils from the skin of my hands and fingers seemed to do the same thing over the body of the grips. The raised portions of the diamond back pattern all turned dark as well. It looks nothing like the picture anymore.

Anyone have any experience with these? These weren't cheap and nothing on their website says anything about the color changing from handling them. I can only imagine if I got Hoppes powder solvent or lube on these things, it would look terrible. Not to mention just body sweat during summer carry. I've written them asking if this is normal, I'll see what they have to say, but I'm leaning towards asking for my money back.

Yeah, I've had that issue with the lighter colored grips, mainly the 320s. While micarta is some tough stuff, it appears to still be relatively porous, I have since switched to either black micarta (doesn't show the moisture) or G10. They will dry out, just whatever you do, don't put them in the oven or microwave to "Help out" the drying process....

    Don't ask.

    Don't ask.

At least you tried it on the pistol grips and not your poodle.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I use the black blasted canvas Gator Grips on my Colt. I like the way they "age" with use. This color doesn't look dirty like a lighter set might though.

Thanks for the replies folks.....I'll talk to VZ first , but I think I'm going to return them. The nearest analogy I can come up with is it's like having greasy fingers and touching untreated wood, the wood gets stained and goes darker, leaves prints. I'll ask them about the G10, if that's less porous. Coincidentally more expensive though.

The microwave did not even cross my mind.......
