    Wrangler Cowboy Cut Jeans

I have been wearing these my whole life, the original 13MWZ version in blue denim as well as the colors. As I have gotten older the cut is not as comfortable or roomy as it once was. I noticed a poster that was advertising cowboy cut now comes in a relaxed fit size (31MWZ). I gave it a try and I had to reduce the waist size by an inch and they still are looser than the originals. I have to hitch my belt up even tighter so I don't turn into a plumber..

Well long story to say that these relaxed fit cowboy cut jeans will probably work for IWB concealed carry for those of you out there that wear Wranglers.

I've been noticing the same thing with the originals. I'll give the new ones a try, thanks!

I used to wear Wrangler jeans nearly everyday for work. A few years ago I started wearing camo cargo pants, then I changed to Wrangler khaki cargo pants. They are great, and as I've gotten older I've found that the cargo pants are a lot more roomy and comfortable.

I don't think that us older guys would look particularly good in tight jeans, of course I'm only speaking for myself.

The cargo pants have deep pockets and work well for pocket carry. I use them for IWB carry as well.

I ran into a similar problem. I also wore the 13MWZs (32w34l), but when I went to an IWB holster I had to go up in waist size....That made the jeans to baggy....So I went with larger waist size in the 'SLIM FIT' 936PWDs(34w34l)....This worked for me, the seat & legs are the size of my old 13s, but the waist is large enough to accommodate my IWB holster.

Wrangler makes two distinct version of jeans...the MZW's are the traditional cowboy cut and are much heavier material. The "relaxed fit" from Walmart are lightweight, cheap jeans.

You might find fit issues like that with other brands as well.
Many manufacturers are now cutting the waistband on the lengthwise grain of the fabric to save on cost. The lengthwise grain has less give or stretch than the crosswise grain and because of that they will feel tighter, even though they are the same size you normally wear..
Ah the joys of manufacturers cutting costs.

Being kinda thin (5' 8" and 145 lbs) I cannot really go up 1-2 sizes without looking like a clown
I use a stretcher device on my regular wranglers for IWB; stretch the waist, the rest stays the same; re-apply every 3-4 washes.

Got 'em at WM. They weren't displayed on the hanging racks, they were in the "folded up" section of men's pants. IIRC less than $20 per.
