Tacstar?
Does anyone have experience with the Tacstar line of shotgun weapon lights?
These specifically
TacStar Weapons Light System Compact
TacStar Universal Mount
I want a weapon mounted flashlight for a shotgun but don't want to shell out 250+ for a Surefire (as much as I'd like to), but I also dont want to pay for a piece of crap that will fall apart after 5 rounds of 00 Buck

I have two of the Tac Star T-6 flashlights and had problems with both.
The Tac Star T-6 is a knock off of the Pelican M-6, at 70 lumens it is nothing to write home about anymore.
Further the remote tail cap pressure pad switch have too much resistance, making a 120 lumens lamp (P-61) behave like a P-60 65 lumens.
You will be better off with a Fenix TK-10 or a TK-11 (if you want to use rechargeable batteries). The Fenix have a remote switch available.
The figure 8 mount will work if you use lock tite in the screws.
If you don't want to spend as much as the Fenix, get a Surefire G-2 and an aftermarket Cree R-2 lamp of 200 plus lumens (about $20 for the lamp)
And a remote tail cap from AIMSHOT (about $14)
My own Mossberg 500 is set up with the second option
Cheers

I have the older version of the TacStar light, which I am reasonably satisfied with and have had no problems, and 2 of the current/newer version that I am much happier with. The only thing I don't like is that they use the 3v lithium batteries that are somewhat costly. We have them mounted on M4's and shotguns at work and have had no problems.
