    Question about lasers

    Good morning everyone.

Got a quick question for you all, and I apologize if this is the wrong place for it.

I have a Night Vision monocule. I know you can use an infrared laser as an aiming device. I was wondering if anyone knew if you could also see a regular red laser in a NVG?

    Thanks guys.

It depends, but usually it appears simply as a source of light.

No a regular laser will not work with NVG just like some red dots are made for NVG and some arent

Ummm night vision picks up IR light, visible light (red lasers) have IR energy as well.

YES you can see red lasers with night vision goggles. Just like you can see any other visible light... well except pure blue light. Blue doesnt pick up on most NVG's (pure blue that is)

Thanks for your help everyone. I knew that lasers did give off some IR energy, I just wasn't sure if it would be enough to pick up, or if it would turn out like Sixto said and just look like a flashlight.

So me and a buddy hid in a closet testing his laser with my monocle. He has a cheap BSA laser, and I figured if anything would bloom it would be that. But it worked great.

    Thanks again guys.

Kind of curious what exactly happened in your experience?

Do you happen to remember the wavelength of the laser?
