    Need Body Armor Help

I am an auxilary for a police dept but havent worked yet. It is a very small dept but i am looking at it being experiance so i dont mind, at least untill i am able to get on at full time dept. So my question is that i need to buy a vest. I went on galls and saw their" Galls® Gold Micro-Fiber Level IIIA Body Armor w/ Twaron LFT, Dyneema® and GoldFlex" vest for $530. In your opinion is that a good vest? any you suggest? or is just the $400 lite one good? I liked the $530 one because it almost half the weight. Opinions? Thanks

For me there is no other option than IIIA, unless someone can give me a good reason as to not to. Thanks for the advise tho.

The only 3a vests that are currently measuring up to the new FBI testing protocols are the Diamondback Tactical QVA armor and the US Armor Classic Enforcer. With that being said, my job just purchased ABA Extreme HP 3a vests. These ABA vests are expected to pass the tests but just have not been tested that way yet. Any of those choices would be a good way to go.
