    Magazine carriers

Looking to get a magazine carrier or 2 for my G19 15 round magazines. How are the ones that Glock sells? I know they are singles and vertical, but the price looks pretty good.

    Here's my criteria:

Goes on a belt instead of paddle style.

Can carry magazines horizontally without having to have a lid or strap for retention, my muffin top gets in the way.

Prefer kydex (plastic, polymer, whatever) but leather would work if it is black.

Holding 2 mags would be nice but if I have to get 2 singles it may work.

Less expensive than the ammo carried in it.

    Thanks,

    Joker

Blazer Brass at Wally World is 8.97 for 50 or 2.69 for one mag. so you might want to put it in your pocket.

If you are carrying self-defense rounds, you may have a budget of 22.49.

Not that it matters because I don't know of any horizontal mag pouches.

I'm not your mother, but I'll say it anyways..."allright smartypants"

I may have found something close to what I'm looking for, made by Bianchi. It's like $33.00, but I ordered it anyway. When I get it I'll report on it's qualities.

I've seen nothing but dust on the Wal-mart ammo shelf in the 9mm spots ever since I got my G19. Was there last night and they had some .38 spl and .38 + p, even had some .45 acp-but no 9mm.
Someday I hope to get lucky and catch some.

I love my Safariland 123 mag pouch (first link that came up in google: Safariland 123-18-2 Concealment Magazine Holder, Horizontal Holster - OutdoorPros.com )

It does have a flap though, which you didn't like. Beats having the mag fall out though :) They have models for both double and single stack, so make sure you get the right one.

Some police gun leather places have mag pouches that can go on horizontally. To my knowledge, they have flaps. And they're black, usually, and frigging HUGE, so not real discreet for daily carry.

You know, a 1911 magazine is nice and flat, and fits in a pocket. Unlike your Tupperware...
    Guns don't kill people.
Gaping wounds in vital organs do.

Har har, but I can carry double what your 1911 mag carries in my "tupperware."

I don't think I'll use this mag carrier for EDC, mostly at the range and during competitions. I also hope to never be in a gun fight, let alone one in which I have a need for more than 16 rounds. (insert 9mm vs. .45acp comment here)

Darth muffin pointed out a safariland carrier that would be a nice option for EDC.

    Thanks

For the range I like Comptac's mag holders. They offer the ability to carry in the horizontal position.
And I also have a Fobus double which sees use at the ranger.

FWIW I prefer single pouches to doubles because they are much more comfortable.

I received the Bianchi double mag holder.

It appears to be well made, the magazines fit in it but snug. There is a tension adjustment screw.

This carrier can be worn vertically or horizontally, you can wear it upside down and with mags facing your six o'clock if you want. It fits my new Crossbreed belt nicely.

Drawing mags out is relatively easy considering the amount of retention. Puting a mag back in will sometimes push the other mag out a little. I haven't got o use it at the range yet, so I'll try to report more later.

    So far so good.
