Help with XD SC light rails
I recieved a picatinny rail mounted light for my XD 40 subcompact as a gift but its an inch to long to fully latch on the rail. I vaguely remember seeing rail extensions anyone know of such a thing? or am I going to have to sell this and find the right size light? I dont mind the little extra weight it would just be for home defense.

Just my opinion, but why have a subcompact and then put a rail extension on? Sell or return the light and get the one that fits.

You should buy a XD 40 compact for the light to fit on. And while your at the gunstore, get a light for your subcompact.

No such thing as an XD 40 compact - only in .45 ACP. As far as your light issue goes, the SC XD's, as well as the Kel-Tec PF9, have basically had their rails designed around the most compact weapon light around - the Insight XML/X2 (model with laser). "Normal" sized weapon lights, like the Surefire X series, Streamlight TL series, etc. won't fit on the shortened rails - but will fit fine on a 4" service model or larger XD.
Hope this helps shed some light on your situation...

I have the XD40SC and got the Streamlight TLR3. The TLR3 has several adapters, one specifically for the XD subcompact fits perfectly.

Did the light come with extra picatinny keys? Most do, that's why I ask.
You're better off letting the new light go and picking up a TLR-3 by Streamlight, which was designed for the compacts and subcompacts.

I have the XML rail light which fits the XD compacts but it is only 40 watts and not worth the cost IMO. I don't even use mine anymore. Just sits in the draw. Maybe because my only XD compact is an XD45C which I use a TLR1.
