Broke down and bought a gun belt...

Okay, I finally caved. I knew for a long time that I needed a gun belt but didn't have the patience to go get one, didn't know what to buy, yada yada yada.

Finally, last month I got a gift card for my birthday and decided to use it on a good gun belt. I looked at a whole bunch, and was almost set on a Beltman. Excellent quality and it'd do what I needed it to. My only gripe is the price, but you get what you pay for.

When I went to the range two weeks ago, though, I found a nice Galco Cop belt that was about half the money of a Beltman. I went ahead and picked it up.

WOW. What an amazing difference from my regular belt. Concealment is better, fit is better, no more adjusting the position of the holster every time I stand up. It's a night and day difference. I've been wearing it for about 2 weeks and love it.

So if you've been dumb like me and not gotten a good gun belt, knock it off and go buy one. After a good sidearm and a good holster this is definitely the best gun-related purchase I have made.

As you put it "I've been dumb like you". Not intentionally....just broke. I do like hearing positive gear reviews as a gun belt is #1 on my list to upgrade in my setup. Got a great holster...just need a good belt.

    Thanks for the post!

yes a good gun belt will do the trick. i pickup an 5.11 belt last month and it is the best for the price. payed 35.00 for it, not bad for a good made gun belt.

I have 5 Looper Leather belts...they make a big difference and they're only $40 (I got mine when they were still $30).

I may have learned about the Looper Belts from your posts...I bookmarked the site. Anyway I was reading this thread and thought hmmmm...I'm going to post the Looper link before the usual Looper guy does.

Congrats on getting a belt. I've been using a beltman for a few years...I just got new brown boots, so I had to get a brown belt. Been wearing the stiffest 1.5" I could find at the western store, and I had forgotten how bad regular belts are. Brown beltman is going on order as soon as I can afford it. I might even go against fashion standards and just wear a black belt with brown boots.

I didn't honestly think a gun belt was any different than a regular belt. I see my error now and need to purchase one. So, thanks y'all

I picked up a Don Hume last week while I was buying an "inexpensive" IWB holster for my Smithie 638. I hope I like it.

A well made gun belt makes all the difference in the world. I don't think I'll ever go back to a regular belt again. Just like you said night and day difference.

    Cabelas Double Duty Belt

They are terrific belts. I bought a black one and a brown one for a little over $50 total. Typical Cabela's quality. Sturdy and affordable.

Don't believe their web site. Ordered my belt 1/22, still no shipping notification.

Maybe some day I will be able to tell you how good they are, but I am not holding my breath
