    Alcohol and Reloading

So as to not sidetrack a thread in another section. I ask a simple set of questions.
Do you or don't you drink alcohol while reloading and why?

This is not meant to provoke a storm. I am just trying to gauge public opinion.

    Do I? No.

    Why?

    I don't want to.
I also don't want to chance messing up a round risking equipment, life and limb due to a momentary lapse in judgment.

Getting loaded, while reloading seems rather dangerous to me...

Absolutely not. No distractions while running the press.

Now if I'm just sorting brass or inspecting loaded rounds for quality and boxing them up, I might have a beer or two while I do that.

The actual assembly of components is the critical part.

well. i dont drink at all.. so no.
but if I did drink occationally, still no way.
reloading takes concentration. last thing i want is a squib while practicing double taps at the range.

Haven't drank alcoholic beverage in 17 years, when you are messing around with equipment that if you double charge a load or use the wrong powder could end up blowing up your gun and a few body parts

Not only would I never be around anyone who drinks, even a couple of beers, while reloading, I'll never be on the same range with that person when they shoot what they reloaded while drinking.

I have no faith in the judgement of anyone who drinks around reloading.

I'm the kind of guy that believes beer makes almost anything a little better. Not loading. I don't risk it. I don't want folks around me when I'm loading. I give it 100% or I stop. And I've done that on a number of occassions. My mind wanders, a neighbor comes in talking, dogs barking, whatever. Finish the 5 on the press and shut it down. It'll be there tomorrow. The risk is much too high. My attention span is horrible enough (some time in the early 70's I heard a loud ZAP.....and I woke up in 2010).

I usually have a beer with my dinner (sometimes 2 if it is a big dinner).
    Otherwise, I don't drink.

I have in the past. I won't any more. I've got a small pistol primer lodged in my left hand to prove it. I have a right to be stupid too. Next time. I'll be stupid without influence, then I can blame myself for being stupid. Reloading demands your full attention. For your safety and others. Remember that.

    Heck no

Heck no, I don't even listen to the radio while reloading. No distractions at all.

I may for some of the more mundane aspects of reloading -- like maybe when I'm sorting brass or case gauging rounds.
