    Lee Loadmaster mods

Being an old machinist I am never satisfied with factory original equipment and I always end up modifying things to suit me. The first thing that HAD to go was that ridiculous reset chain. I replaced it right off with a spring. That was a necessary mod for function and reliability. The next mod was just a matter of convenience, a round counter. Here's a short video of the mods in action http://vid797.photobucket.com/albums...n/CAM00342.mp4

I clicked on your link and was really expecting to see some still pictures. Your Video took me by surprise when it first started moving.

    Nice job.

I wonder if your counter idea is going to get swiped now?
Next year all LEE loaders will mysteriously have factory round counters.

The video doesn't work for me, just a grey screen.

I'm interested in the round counter but I haven't had any issues with the reset chain with at least 3K rounds of production.

Maybe you should forward your "improvements" to Lee?

We'll, Lee sells parts to convert the Auto Disk to a spring loaded system. I am just more inclined to make my own parts rather than buy them.

I have a mod that I like for my Load Master, attach to rope or chain and drop from bow of boat. Hasn't failed me yet as an anchor. Also works well as a large paper weight.

Sent via Tapatalk and still using real words.

Really? I would have thought an admin would be above such juvenile bashing. Sheesh.

I had a Lee Pro 1000 before I switched to Dillon, the 2 main problems was the chain reset powder system and the gravity slide priming system,if the chain bound up and broke without you noticeing you loaded cases with no powder,if the primers didn't slide into position right it would flip them and you would seat them sideways or upside down

    Thanks!

Both are elegant mods. Well done.

I have both types of return available from Lee on the auto disc. My load Master uses the chain and my turret uses the spring. Neither have given me a single problem. Though I do like your spring return set up, it would not work with the turret press. Not criticizing just commenting. I tried to come up with a spring return for the Perfect Powder Measure so I did not have to go to the double disk kit for my .223 press, which is a 4 station turret. I tried a key chain reel first but the spring was not strong enough. Then I use a simple rubber band attached to the top of the powder hopper and then to the handle of the powder drop. It worked well at first but the plastic parts of the dispenser "hub" warped from the tension and it started leaking powder and hanging up mid stroke so I went with the double disk kit in the end any way. It works better than I thought it would so it's all good.

I'll keep my eyes open for a counter like that at the flea markets and set something up.

The Pro1000 is much more finicky than the Load Master, though I was able to get one running pretty smoothly after some painstaking cleaning and polishing.

The Lee primer feeds all seem to really need a full channel of primers to work properly. Though the safety prime system is not quite as picky as the Pro and LM feeders. I made LED sensors for my LM primer channels. I get a buzzer when the tray empties so I know to fill up before the channel gets depleted.
