Dunham's has a nice WASR in this caliber for 220$$
I was thinking of getting one (vs a SKS) but am having trouble finding reloading dies and such? Is this common? Couldn't find any on Lee's website..
Anyone know if Lee makes dies for these?
Thanks

As far as I know, there aren't any components, specifically and more importantly brass, for 5.45....so it stands to reason that there aren't any dies for the round.
I have a few thousand rounds of stuff accumulated (Berdan-primed) in that caliber for my WASR-2.
Do you have contact info for Dunham's? I wouldn't mind getting another WASR-2, especially if they that cheap.
I got it in a flyer.
They have a generic website but doesn't tell ya much.
5.45x 39mm right now is the cheapest ammo for AK or AR rifles right now.
Its still cost effective NOT to reload it.
Let me retract what I said; there are dies, but they are special order and expensive....not alot of brass though; you can buy fireformed and reloadable brass from Buffalo Arms (not cheap!):
http://www.buffaloarms.com/browse.cf...cfm/4,670.html
or fireform your own...but I'm not sure using which brass. Someone on The High Road stated they used 222 Remington to fireform into 5.45:

and this other one on Cast Boolits:

In short....you can reload, but its not an easy or cheap endeavor. Buy Wolf or surplus and lots of it since the price is increasing. Wolf used to cost $155 when it came back on the market last year....now its $195 for the most part.
CRAP!!! Just checked ammo man IT was the cheapeast now 7.62x39 is pretty much the same.
Well It used to be the cheapest!
Its still cheap. Just look elsewhere if he us gouging. AIM surplus is $119.95 plus shipping for 1080 round cans of 5.45. And many more...
Ohio Rapid Fire has the Soviet stuff for a bit less than AIM but it's also older...so it depends if you plan to put it away or shoot it.
I'm getting a group buy together with one of the vendors they are giving us free shipping and sub 120/1080 rounds prices...for that kind of price I'm not going to reload it.
Hehe for me to reload I would have to shoot it first. I have a Romak in this caliber that I have never shot and I have had this rifle over 10 yrs. Just never got around to testing it out. One of these days.

Check the Blue press, dillon precision. They show Redding 2 die set for 7.62x39, # 11835 for $29.70.
As for brass, remington loads 7.6239 in reloadable brass. their ammo is about 12.00 for box of 20 rnds, this is of course more expensive then surplus steel cased. If you buy 5bokes you can then reload those 100 rds for at least 3 times . Check around in the farious sporting goods stores like Big 5, Winchester also has 7.62x39 in brass cases bit it runs about $18.00 a box.
Midway USA has American Amunition at $13.79 for 20, reloadable. American Eagle, reloadable at $12.99 for 20. Its out there just keep searching.
check this for unprimed brass in 7.62x39.
