The second photo is what I was referring to with my previous post about buying individual conversion parts. If you are loading two calibers that use the same shellplate and locator buttons, like the .30-06 and .308 families, you just need the appropriate powder funnel. In the case of the 30cal rifles, all the funnels are the same.

I am reminded, following HotGuns mention .......

Even tho tricklers not pricey - you can make one real easy - at least I did years ago and it does the job for me.

Take an empty .44mag case (I actually used a real old one with a small split at case mouth) and an empty .45acp case. By judicious application of some flare to .45acp case and tweaking of .44 mag case mouth, the latter can be pushed tight into the former about 3/8" - I know the .44 case mouth split helped..

Then just have one of the two left with old primer and other deprimed. Put some powder in, fit them together and use rather like salt shaker - small powder particles will come out of the the open flash hole. If by chance the powder is large flake then make two of these and for large flake powder enlarge flash hole a tad to suit.

Sixto - IIRC a proprietory trickler is a device which by use of a rotating handle - administers small powder extras to an otherwise main drop close to what is wanted (on scales). Sorta one particle/granule at a time. This then brings desired charge weight up to what is wanted in minute and controllable increments.

My ''cheat'' does same really - drop just short of charge - and ''top up'' - granule at a time, till scales say it's spot on.

It is a powder delivery system that will dispense or "trickle" minute amounts of powder for accurate measure.
You have ones like above that are the inexpensive ones or:

The digital ones that come with scale, and all the goodies including weather station & DirecTV
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

OK, Got it. Thanks. It made my brain hurt... but I understand now.

And I was scared when I thought about my question, and saw that Miggy responded with pictures... I was afraid to look.

Tricklers again - OK real quick pic - the ''cheapster's" trickler - IMO all you need.

These cases lost their shine long ago - but it does help to have the .44 mag case mouth with a split!!!

Sixto, I know if I don't post pictures, you won't get it.

Uh oh! I think I won't be able to visit Ohio any time soon. Sixto probably will have a BOLO for my sorry butt by tomorrow morning.

I might be mistaken, but tricklers are used more for long gun loads than anything else. Benchresters, hunters and shooters like that are a picky crowd and they will increment or decrease their charges by cents trying to achive extreme accuracy. In my particular case I find that the control in my thrower is more than enough for my IDPA loads.

What Miggy said - 'trickling' is very much super-duper accuracy bench rest stuff ...... handgun ammo - quanitity stuff - plus/minus a tenth grain - no biggie IMO

Miggy - I am cheap - so cheap it hurts
