    Help with Turret

Can someone help me out Please. I got a Lee turret Press kit. I've just gotten around to setting it up. Here's the problem. Sometimes the index rod will not turn the turret. It will work a few times, then will not turn. Or turn partially as if out of time. Lee's instructions suck. I've seen pictures of two of these presses. Mine has the plastic thing on the index rod. There dosn't seem to be any way for the index rod to work? Other's I've seen have a metal clamp with a nut on top. Here's a pic

You might want to retake the picture.

It looks right. Is the nut on top articulating properly with the turret? The turret should be seated flush with the unit.

Try taking out the turret and rod and stick the rod in the turret to see if it's slipping somehow.

Mine started to rotate slightly out of sync after the first 200 rounds, and I lubricated the sides of the turret and the rod with a little Break Free, and the press ran fine.

try cleaning then lub the side of the turret and rod. try some regular motor oil, a little goes a long way.

You might be on to something. I lubed with white lithium grease. It wored great for about 20 or so times. Then jumped time again or wouldn't turn.

Thought I'd folow up in case someone else ran into this. If you remove the clamp that goes around the ram. There is a small square "ratchet" peice in there. The index bar travels through this. It was "rounded out" A replacement came with the kit. Everything cycles fine now. Thanks for the lube info. I wouldn't have thought to do that. Mike
