    Brass question

We ("we" being my dad and I) have most of what we need to reload the two most common rifle calibers we shoot (8mm and 7.62x54R), including a progressive press and some dies. However, we shoot handguns more than rifles, and handgun ammo around here is going up again, so we wanted to start getting into reloading handgun stuff too. So I wanted to start collecting brass in advance, just so we have something to experiment on.

The most common ammo we shoot is Winchester White Box, both in 9mm and .45 Auto. Is this brass safe to reload? Is there any type of "target" ammo brass that would be reloadable?

    Thanks,

    -B

WWB is perfectly OK to reload. Stay away from lacquered steel cases and the Blazer aluminum cases.

I’ll second Ghuqu2’s comment since steel cases are too hard on dies and aluminum blazer cases are loaded with an odd size berdan primer to prevent reloading. Also if you are using brass found at the range or other used brass be sure to inspect it thoroughly for excessive bulging or cracked cases.

Cool. WWB it is, for starters, then. Thanks.
