Several years ago, a friend of mine had his Pro1000 blow on him while using Federal primers. He had put 100 into the primer holder, and was priming his 3rd round when it blew. He's not really sure exactly what happened, as he had loaded on it for several years. The chute and round primer holder was completely destroyed. Bits of plastic and primer material blew through his shirt and into his chest, just penetrating the skin enough to cause bleeding. It also blew into his face and caused quite a bit of bleeding. The only thing that saved his eyesight was his eyeglasses. After that, I wear safety glasses 100% of the time when I am reloading. I also went from a Pro1000 to a Dillon 650 and haven't looked back.

Dillon Super 1050 owners manual has a written warning not to use Federal Primers. They will also tell you that on the tech support phone line.

Personally, I like both Dillon and Lee and have never had a primer explosion using Federal Primers on my 3-1050's, Lee equipment or RCBS presses (yet).
