I have one that I bought for my semi autos that straps to my right hand. I think I got it from Midway or Sportsmans Guide. It catches about 80% of the brass. I find it much easier to lay out a big tarp and just pick it up off the tarp when shooting in the grass.
Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

I just go to the far right wall and use the space between my glasses and my right temple.

You can build one out of PCV that works with anygun. But you can call it your Springfield XDM Brass Catcher if you want.

I'll even put a Springfield sticker on it. Oh, and I'll wear Springfield glasses and a Springfield jacket...

All jokes aside, I really hate having to make or buy one for that matter. But I'm losing lots of casings as they fly out into the lane. I don't have the luxury of walking out in my backyard and shoot like I did back in NC. Now I have to drive to the range, wait for a lane, shoot down a narrow corridor, listen to some idiot who has no clue tell what he is talking about tell his buddy how to shoot the gun and then watch the same guy hold his gun to the side (like in "Boyz in da hood") and rapid fire 15 shots and miss the target completely. *SIGH* Oh yeah, when all that is said and done I have the pleasure of paying a guy at the counter 12 bucks for the pleasure of shooting in his fine establishment.

What I'd give to be back in the country.

Does your range have a broom and dust pan? That is pretty much what you need. If the range is not into keeping the brass too much, they'll appreciate you "cleaning" after yourself. And of course you will collect your brass, other people's brass and dump it in your range bag. And what if you have other calibers in the mix? Separate it and trade it or give it away to your favorite DC member.

You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

If it were only that easy. My Springfield throws 2 out of 5 casings into the firing lane. My Walther PPS throws 5 out of 5 everywhere but places I can retrieve the brass. So, I always grab what I can but the range will not let me walk out onto the lane and retrieve my shell casings (rightfully so, I don't want Tupac with the sideways grip to shoot me!). So yeah, I need something to contain my casings as they fly out of the gun.

Also, yesterday, I swept up as much random brass as i could. It was a mixed bag but I was happy to get so much. Now I just need to parse it and see what is worth keeping. I own several handgun in various calibers so I'm not above reloading multiple calibers, even ones I don't shoot as much as the .40.
