    Noob reloader question...

I know this is a dumb question but need to ask. I am ordering a case trimmer and I was wondering. Do I use the sizer die then trim, or vice versa? I just want to make my rounds a little better. Thanks.

You case length will be more uniform if you size first, then trim.

Ditto. Since it's the sizing operation that causes the case to "grow", it makes sense to size first.

I only trim bottleneck ammo, rifle or pistol. Straightwall cases rarely stretch a significant ammount.

I trim everything, but then again, I'm a bit OC about ammo I guess. :-) I wholeheartedly agre that with target loads in pistol ammo, you likely don't need to do it everytime. When I do trim, sometimes it's really just as a check, becuase nothing is actually trimmed off since the case has not stretched. But it makes me feel better, so I do it.

    +1 to this.

trimming pistol cases is a HUGE waste of time. A case will split and need to be thrown away well before it REALLY needs a trim. I load and shoot about 10K rounds a year and never have a problem.
