    Placed My Order Today

Sent in my order via Brian Enos for the following:

Dillon 550 in 40 S&W and .38/.357 and various accessories, total bill came to $998

Also ordered the Uniquetek micrometer powder bar and shellplate light.

Can't wait for things to arrive, now I just need to settle on a plinking load recipe and order some components.

Congrats and welcome to reloading if you're new to it.

Chances are you won't settle on just one recipe for plinking. Part of the fun of reloading is experimenting with different loads and combinations. Usually this experimenting happens because of component availability (or lack of) forces you to buy different bullet weights and powder. Also every gun and person is different, what I shoot well you may hate.

Check the component prices at your local porn shop, sometimes they have the better prices, especially for powder and primers. Unless you buy powder and primers in very large quantities it's usually cheaper buying locally because of the hazmat shipping fees. I usually find my plinking recipes vary depending on what powders I can get locally and what bullets I can find that are in stock.

With the current surge in gun sales and hoarding it's getting hard to find dies and bullets. I currently have a bunch on backorder at Midway.

You will surely enjoy it. It can be addicting though. With all the new stuff to look at and decisions to be made on what components ect.

    Good luck.

Just think, in six- or seven-thousand rounds, you'll have that bad boy paid off!

    Have fun!

Congratulations. I also just started reloading. Still reading a lot. Reloaded about 500 rounds and all went fine.

You need to get powder and primers ordered,I found Alliant American select in stock at powdervalley for 8lbs.$96.00 They have been out of Unique and Bullseye for several months but I found that Amer Select will load most of my pistol roundsand wolf primers are $100.00 5000,at either powdervalley or wideners reloading.they have large pistol primers in stock now but are out of small pistol primers.Sometimes I use small rifle in place of small pistol

    dukal,

I purchased 8# of Unique and 5,000 win WSP from a local source for about $30 over web prices, but when you figure in shipping and hazmat fees I think it was a wash.

I also ordered 1,000 180 gr. JHP plated from Berry's (gotta like their free shipping). The press is supposed to arrive this Saturday according to Fedex, not sure when the bullets are due to arrive. Doesn't much matter because I have to rearrange the basement, my loading bench, etc so I won't be up and running immediately.

Your thinking ahead,I purchase powder and primers to where it off sets the cost of S&H my powder order was 32 pounds of powder and I ordered 30,000 primers from wideners, that should last me fer a couple months LOL and I
cast my own bullets which really saves a bunch if you have a source for wheel weights

I figured up my per round cost based on what I paid for primer, powder, and bullets and it comes to about $0.15/round. That is about 1/2 the price of WWB 40S&W ($29.94 for a box of 100 at Wallyworld). Of course this does not take brass into account, but I have about 5,000 rounds that I have been collecting over the last two years or so, knowing that I would eventually get into reloading.

    Well,

Blue and Orange Santa arrived today bearing gifts. Now I just need to re-organize the basement and reloading bench, and I will be in bidness.

    Well,

Here is what I have setup so far:

Can't finish getting all of the dies adjusted as I don't have any bullets yet, Berry's is still 'processing' my order, let alone shipping it.
