    9mm test Loads - Results

Went to range yesterday and tried out 2 batches of my first 9mm JHP and CMJ test rounds. Heres the results

Shot at 11 yards, at a steady pace (1 shot per second).

9mm 115gr CMJ (Frontier Cast Lead, Copper Plated)
These were loaded with 4.5 grains of ADI AP70N (Universal \ Clays), Federal Champion Primers.

    10 shots at standard target

    9,9,9,8,8,8,7,5,5,5

    * Note the 3 fives were a tight 1/2" group at low left, most likley my shooting as opposed to ammo (I tend to shoot low left)

    9mm 123gr JHP (Lapua Megashock)
These were loaded with 4.5 grains of ADI AP70N (Universal \ Clays), Federal Champion Primers.

    10 shots at standard target

    10,10,10,10,8,8,8,7,7,6

Wayward shots were low left again. My Lapua 115gr FMJ loaded at 4.3 grains yeilded similar results to the above.

Interesting to note that the first shots are better !
Are you getting tired, or lose some concentration, or start flinching ?
Try to have somebody put a dummy round in the mag without you knowing it; you might learn something and improve your accuracy.

Sounds like my problem. My first three shots are dead on and then my aim starts to drop. I thought it was my sights until I realize this is something I do every time I go out shooting. Looks like it's time for some snap caps to mess with myself!

If your shots are consistently off in one direction, it's usually a trigger control problem.

Anyway, glad to hear that your ammo is working out.

I am waiting to post a report on my .308 and .30-06 test loads that I shot two weeks ago. I wanted to include pics of my targets, but can't find my darn camera. That's the problem with wife and kids, I can never find anything when I need it. That's also why I keep the door to the man cave locked, so they can't get their hands on stuff in there and lose it too.

Anyway, keep loadin' and shootin'. Good luck and keep it safe.
When you've got 'em by the balls, their hearts & minds will follow. Semper Fi.

More likely trigger control, a couple steps closer (7 yards) I normally shoot all 9s and 10s.

Im still trying to master a good group (under 10") at 25 yards.
