    45 ACP spent brass

I noticed the other day while deburing my brass several of them had a small dent in the side near the neck. Not all of them came from my gun as I picked up several rounds while at the range. Has anybody else noticed this and what about the safety factor of reusing them?

My thoughts are they are hitting the edge of the slide while being ejected! Of course if that is the case wgy wouldn't all of them be dented?

Not all ejection ports are the same. Some ding the brass and others don't. Some shooters open up the ejection ports a little or bevel them to avoid this.

A little ding or dimple comes out sometimes when resizing (if the ding causes problems at this point toss the brass). As long as it isn't a major deformation to the shape of the brass it shouldn't cause any problems and most will reform once they are fired (only to be once again dinged on the way out.)

It the dent is bigger, with no creases, you can use a wooden dowel to round it out before sizing.

Had a gun that did that. Sent it back to the factory with a couple of casings and they adjusted the port. Doesn't do it anymore.
