ya, the guys I buy components from are local, I'll give 'em a chance. I'm not in that big a hurry. But if they can't get me FTX bullets by next week, I'll have to go to Midsouth.

I did go to Hornady website to get some reloading data. There data only goes to 2100 ft/sec. But factory loads go out to 2400 ft/sec. why do they have a discrepancy.

$28 for 5k is high????? You are kidding, right?

    I wouldn't complain very much about $28 for 1k.

Hornady loads factory loads with a "Special" powder that they have developed, and thus get more speed.

I have found that Win 748 powder gives me the best speed with out pushing my 30-30 rifles.

I have found that the 170gr flatnose-roundnose fills all of my 30-30 needs and if I want a lever action to reach out with I use my Browning .308Win Lever Action rifle.

If you want a lever action to shot at distance, the BLR is the way to go, dont try to make your 30-30 into a 308 Win. You can easily load the .308 Win down to 30-30 levels and use 30-30 bullets if you so desire.

I stuff 180gr Hornady-Remington-Winchester-Sierra Round Noses in my BLR at max speed and shoot big holes in any animal out to 300yds or so. It is my favorite woods gun.

You have to mean $28.00/1000, not 5000. I've been reloading for 30 years and I've never bought primers for $5.60/1000 ($28.00/5000).

If you actually mean $28.00/5000, I want to know where you got them.

Man, you ought to be ashamed for getting an old man so excited about the possibility of really cheap primers. It took an hour to get my heart rate under control!!!
