Hidden Gun Restrictions in HC Bill?

Anyone read or hear about the following statement from a blogger from "The Hill"? If this is true it is very scary.

"Considering what has been implanted in the bill, which will be voted on in the House this week.1. Restrictions upon gun owners. The Senate-passed version would allow the ATF to troll your confidential medical records in order to take guns away from potentially tens of millions of Americans. The "individual mandate" (in Sections 1501 and 1502) will make it impossible for you to keep private, medical information out of the government-controlled medical database that was created in last year's stimulus bill."

Serious fear-mongering. The government already has access to VA medical records and medicare/medicaid health records. They have for years. Have they used that? This is speculation and fear-mongering.

Easy enough to get around. The doctor asks if you have guns, tell him it's none of his business.

Sometimes it is ok to lie,,,then discreetly find another doctor. No sense in drawing attention to your self.

I agree, with the fear mongering dude. IMHO I don't think it's that serious.

Any nationwide database of medical records will become accessible to law enforcement under the right circumstances, but I fail to see how my medical records are going to help the BATF. Firearms aren't part of my medical records. However, my association with firearms is more directly accessible to the BATF from my purchases and State and Federal data on my CHP. I can't imagine that mining medical records would be an efficient or effective exercise, when more direct methods to which they have unquestionable access already exist.

If gun control is implemented through health care reform, it will be down the road and justified by policies to deal with firearm ownership as a public health issue. JMO, of course.

There is something about firing 4,200 thirty millimeter rounds/min that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
