yeah i happened to cath 5 mins of that where they said that, i was dropping off dishes and heard it in the background about concealed carry in Florida and ran to the tv to watch but didn't really understand what that had to do with the pedos. Bummer that they didn't have a show on guns. Mythbusters was more interesting anyway.

Oh, yes, it is so easy to get a "handgun carry permit" in Florida. Here is all you have to do.

1. Read and study the copy of Chapter 790, Florida Statutes.
2. Have a passport-style, color photograph made.
3. Get verification of training that satisfies the training requirement. The application lists acceptable documents. Make a photocopy to send with the application as an original cannot be returned.
4. Get certified copies of court documents relating to any criminal charges against you.
5. Take the fingerprint card to a local law enforcement agency and ask to be fingerprinted. There is an electronic fingerprint option.
6. Complete the application. Either print clearly with ink or type the information.
7. In the presence of a notary, sign application.
8. Submit a check or money order for the license fee ($117) payable to the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. This fee is not refundable.

I'm sure that your average pedophile has nothing better to do than take the necessary training, have a passport photo made, and provide the government with his fingerprints so that he can legally carry a handgun. Give me a break!

A word about Florida's background check,

My permit was delayed a bit, because the issuing agency, The Department of Agriculture (of all the possible choices!) turned up some 30 year-old info that never got a mention in the numerous background checks I've been through over the years, including some in the military for security clearances.

Got the permit, finally, but trust me, if there's anything in your background that is the least bit questionable, the State of Florida is going to take a long, hard look at it.

They take their jobs very seriously. And that's not a complaint from me, I'm glad they do!

Dumb stuff like that is one of the reasons I quit being a news junkie. I can remember the media types saying that all people involved with file sharing were trading kiddie porn, and how the crowd I had fallen in with at the time was outraged about being labeled without any real thought.

This week we had something similar in Canada. Toronto is living its second summer of shootings. Instead of pushing the cops harder or providing more police to enforce the law, the mayor has been been drumming out the anti speech that its the object and not the criminal at fault.

Day before last he went on local news and said;
"Nobody needs a gun in Canada....Once you own a handgun you turn into a KILLER!!"

This is the same mayor who last year wanted to vote in a special municipal law to make the city "gun free". Bcs of course the criminals would drop their firearms at the city limits, give me a break ;-)

That guy and Bloomberg (add Daley for good measure) should all team up and go (unarmed) on a walk-about in a large city - perhaps Chicago/Toronto/NY/DC - some nice downtown hotspots.

Yeah MSNBC ratings are in the dumper. They do the pedophile shows because its the only show on their channel that gets any ratings. I quit watching after I heard the Carry Permit comment as a justification for the hard takedowns. Don't bother complaining to MSNBC. Those jackels know exactly what they are doing. Write thier advertisers. Carefully explain why you won't be buying their products because of thier association with the network. That hits 'em where they live.
