June 8th, maybe the beginning of the end for NY'rs

June 8th is the day the dysfunctional New York State legislature votes on the "Micro-stamping" bill.

If this bill passes it will effectively ban all hand guns in NY. With California passing there Long gun registration bill, this could start the long good-by to the 2A

I all ready contacted Senator Jim Alessi. I has assured me he is very pro 2A and an avid hunter in NYS and he is opposed to this bill

It's the rest of the bone heads we have to worry about.

Good luck to us, we'll need it

If it is only micro stamping the primer, it is not terribly difficult to retrofit a firing pin on an existing gun. New guns will need to buy this technology so the cost of guns will go up. The problem I see is that the stamping technology is proprietary. It appears to be a monopoly with anti-trust suits being readied. CA micro stamping if I am not mistaken also includes stamping new ammo on the cartridge casings. This makes no sense at all since reloads are still legal.

it calls for stamping the the primer and case. It has not been proven to solve any crime and is a waste of money the state can not afford to spend, yet they will spend it any way in the name of "safety"

Is there anything in the bill that says you cannot buy ammo out of state and have it sent there?
If not I would n't worry. I believe Californias Arnold Stupinegger signed the Bill with the provision that you cannot buy ammo on line .Someone correct me if I'm wrong

I have not read the law, but I BELIEVE it bans importing ammo and it will effectively ban reloading

I'm NOT positive on that point though

Vote them out, the sad part is the bad guys will still be able to get their ammo, and law abiding citizens will get the short end of the stick.

I wrote my senator a couple of weeks ago asking him to oppose the bill. I didn't get a response but IIRC he is a co-sponsor on a couple of other pro 2A bills so hopefully he won't let us down.

Here is a picture of my local turd err..., I mean NYS Senator Antoine Thompson. He's the sailor on the left. He's all for abolishing every firearm ownership right he, or anyone else can think of. The best part...He'll likely run unopposed because of the gerrymandering of districts that gives him a HUGE inner-city voting block. I hate NYS.

I assume the senator would be the guy wearing the blue shirt that says:
    Antoine THOMPSON
    NY STATE SENATOR

Micro stamping... one small step closer towards embedded RFID chips on all weapons. Let me guess, the company that sells the proprietary stamping equipment gave out a bunch of money and wined and dined a bunch of politicians. It's time to macro stamp these freaks out of office.

I especially like Thompson's anti-profiling bill that prohibits law enforcement from profilling based on THE CHARACTERISTICS OF RACE, COLOR, ETHNICITY, GENDER AND AGE. Hmmmm... Imaging that APB. "Police are looking for a human being, anyone who has seen this human being please call....." What's next? No profiling based on species? What can you still profile in NY? Oh yea.... cocaine and hookers for the politicians.
I know what you're thinking: "Did he fire six shots or only five?" "Is that a Smith & Wesson 686+ 7 shot or 627 8 shot?" "Does he have a concealed Sig P226 SCT and two spare mags?" You've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

Where you buy your ammo doesnt matter.

    that firearm
10 microstamping is a revolutionary forensic technology that produces an
    11 identifiable alpha-numeric and geometric code onto the rear of the cartridge casing each time a semiautomatic pistol is fired;

Seems that it will be the individual gun that does all the stamping...it's not like the ammo is already stamped and a record is made when purchased.

    that the
2 alpha-numeric and geometric code on an expended cartridge casing will
3 provide an initial lead for law enforcement by enabling law enforcement
4 to match the cartridge casing found at a crime to the original owner of
5 the firearm; that information from completed crime gun tracing is an
6 important element utilized by COMPSTAT and other crime analysis systems
7 to target illegal firearms trafficking; that microstamping technology
8 continues to produce identifiable markings onto expended cartridge
9 casings even after thousands of rounds of testing; that this additional
10 tool will help law enforcement investigate illegal gun trafficking,
11 close firearm-related criminal cases and protect the public; and that
12 legislative action is necessary to require all new semiautomatic pistols
    13 sold after January 1, 2012 to be microstamp-ready.
14 S 3. Section 265.00 of the penal law is amended by adding two new
15 subdivisions 24 and 25 to read as follows:
16 24. "MICROSTAMP-READY," WHEN USED WITH REFERENCE TO A SEMIAUTOMATIC
17 PISTOL, MEANS THAT SUCH PISTOL IS MANUFACTURED TO PRODUCE A UNIQUE
18 ALPHA-NUMERIC OR GEOMETRIC CODE ON AT LEAST TWO LOCATIONS ON EACH
19 EXPENDED CARTRIDGE CASE THAT IDENTIFIES THE MAKE, MODEL, AND SERIAL
    20 NUMBER OF THE PISTOL.
21 25. "MICROSTAMPING COMPONENT OR MECHANISM," WHEN USED WITH REFERENCE
22 TO A SEMIAUTOMATIC PISTOL, MEANS A COMPONENT OR MECHANISM OF SUCH PISTOL
23 DESIGNED AND INTENDED TO PRODUCE A UNIQUE ALPHA-NUMERIC OR GEOMETRIC
24 CODE ON AN EXPENDED CARTRIDGE THAT IDENTIFIES THE MAKE, MODEL, AND SERI-
25 AL NUMBER OF THE PISTOL.

Ok...now this is just stupid. Everybody knows BGs dont used weapons that are registered to them. and...use of a revolver just blows this whole idea/law out of the water....

So any of the hundreds of millions of firearms already out there won't have it unless the BGs get responsible and order the retrofit firing pin kits.

It will stop the BGs that go out and purchase brand new licensed handguns. Awesome! That's a crime stopper. I'm getting a little sick and tired of BGs with shiny new guns!
