A Good Thread. Yes, help! I do believe in some regulations about guns - so I'm open to listen to an argument for one.

But THIS one is really stupid. It presupposes most criminals (who account for the great majority of violent crime) will apply for, and be given a Pistol Permit, and will register every handgun they purchase with the Pistol Permit Office. For Micro-Stamping doesn't lead directly to the person who shot a round in a criminal act, but merely leads to the gun used. If it's stolen, bought on the street etc. what will show is NOTHING about the shooter. And these are the ways criminals get guns. They CAN'T get them legally.

Meanwhile, all those who CCW, who have a LOWER incidence of any crime - let alone violent crime - than the general population, will see manufacturers stop shipping to NY State, and those that continue to do so, with Micro-Stamping capability now built into their guns, will significantly increase prices for guns for the average law-abiding Joe with a CCW.

And let's not forget: those who often are in real danger all the time, in violence-infested, decrepit neighborhoods, are poor, and trying to lead good lives for them and their families under horrible conditions; parts of my city are like a war zone. If they CCW it may take them a long time to save for even a relatively inexpensive gun. These are some of the people who will be hurt the most by this bill.

It's a BBBAAAAAAD! Law. Help us!
