sure! that is a great idea.
lets sell all of the other amendments and the Constitution its self for only the second amendment.

never! this is bigger then one amendment.

A lot of times we forget that little fact. Good point.

The NRA's focus should, rightly, be on the Second Amendment. There are many of us who are staunch proponents of gun rights, but have widely varied opinions on other issues. I'll support the NRA when it defends the 2A, but will take issue with them when they stray too far into other political spectrums. The strongest defense of the Second Amendment cannot depend on a monolithic ideological approach.

there are not enough cloths pins in the world for me to vote for Harry Reid. His record on every other issue stinks.

    EDIT:
this subject fallows the old fable.
"when they rounded up all the jews, I did not stand. I was not Jewish.
when they rounded up all the blacks, I did not stand. I was not black."

I'll not allow all other uses to slide for this single one.

He got a big chunk of pork for a new range.
So it's okay to bankrupt the country if it's for a gun range. That money had to be confiscated from someone who earned it or borrowed from the Chinese so Harry Reid could buy your vote. I'm sick of it.
How much of Harry Reid's own money did he put up? $0

This forum concerns the 2nd Amendment and gun rights. We tend to agree on those. There are great disagreements on other social and economic issues. Disagreement is par for the course in a free society. Not all people who disagree with me are evil. Just some of them.

Your example of the Confederacy suffers on several levels, EX. The whole Confederate cause was based on an overtly "proactive", militant stance in the face of political setbacks. Instead of working to find common ground within the legal structure of the Constitutional republic, they took the misguided steps which led (rightly) to their demise. Of course, you may be referring to "defensive" as defending a morally bankrupt and obsolete socioeconomic structure. In that sense, it was indeed doomed to failure.

You know today the NRA sent me this month's issue of "American Rifleman". Guess where it went? To the shredder, that is. Ever since they have been helping pass the "Disclose Act" and endorsing anti-gun senator, Harry Reid, I have looked at the NRA with contempt and disgust.
