California has a fairly strict may-issue arrangement for issuance of CHL's. But apparently many lawsuits and movements in the legislature are pending that might well change things for the better.
For those who know specifics of what is happening in California with respect to lawsuits and pending legislation ...
Question: What specific lawsuits or legislation are in the pipeline that has a fair chance of changing the face of the carrying of firearms in California?
I'm looking for numbers/names of legislation, specific lawsuits, with any information you might have about them. A number of friends who carry are living in California, but they're not keeping abreast of things. I'd like to know, as many of these changes could change everything as we know it.
* Please, let's keep this discussion clear of political grousing, for which there are any number of other discussion threads we can pick. I'm looking for a fairly well-informed view of the legal changes (in CA) that might be coming in the next year or two, if things go well.
You should check out the 2A forum at www.calguns.net for the latest info. A lot is happening but no clue when the courts might actually slap the legislature down. A few cases (CCW, roster, gun shows on public property) had been filed and were stayed while MacDonald was being deliberated. Now that the decision has been announced, the courts have to wait 60 (?) days for responses from both sides, then it proceeds. It can proceed by simply issuing a motion for summary judgment as has been requested by our side already.
