    http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/2...x10-ar-552966/

"There are already guns on campus. All too often they are illegal," said Republican Gov. Rick Perry, a concealed handgun permit holder. "I want there to be legal guns on campus. I think it makes sense -- and all of the data supports -- that if law-abiding, well-trained, backgrounded individuals have a weapon, then there will be less crime."

That's some great news. I'm going to vote to reelect Perry.

It works in Utah; why not in Texas, also?

This is one situation where I like Gov Perry. I have other political issues with him, but that is for another forum . He does get the personal self defense, and even has a pistol designed after him from a time he took out a coyote attacking his dog while on a jog.

I have always said, if they are of legal age and are not a felon then why not allow them to carry on campus. Over the years it could have very well saved a few lives.

I've got really mixed feeling on the guns on campus thing. I see both sides. I am not a big Perry fan, especially after the way he has trashed things at A&M, but that's a discussion for a different place. So, I'll just say (so folks know why I am taking my position and that it isn't partisan) that he stacked the board of regents with his buddies and they fired my friend from her position as President of the university. So, he's on my list. No politics involved, just loyalty to someone who I know who got a raw deal.

    Me too.

The fact that we are even debating this is ludicrous and borders on insanity.

We see how well NO guns on campus works as it basically guarantees that any wacko with a gun can operate unhindered there.

I think its time to admit the failures of the nanny state that says it will protect us so that we don't need guns and insists on policies that make it illegal for anyone else do protect themselves.

I say lets get rid of the target rich environments and let those that will, carry. When the socialists that call themselves professors and the mama's boys that work there object and cry like babies, just remind them that they can choose to remain defenseless if they want to.

As one that has participated in active shooter scenarios in various schools,it would make a lot more sense for me to be called in to remove and clear a dead shooter than it would for me to clear each room and each person in a large campus looking for an active shooter.

If you dont want to carry fine. Let those with the guts to protect themselves protect you too, but dont hinder them from being able to do so.

Its time for a change. Lets tip the law in favor for the good guys for once.

I'm not too sure of what to make of this latest campus incident in SA. Shooting an AR and not hitting anyone except himself? I think the guy wanted to commit suicide but wanted more attention than what he would get if found in his bedroom dead.

Finally a politician has made contact with the real world. Maybe he's worth voting for--most aren't.

My feeling for concealed carry on campus is clear - allow it. There isn't a single logical reason to continue to make it illegal.

Well HG, my problem here is that I just don't really trust anyone under 45.

Perry in the past has said that thinks those of us with CHLs should be able to carry anywhere in the state.
