Why is it so hard for these people to understand that it isnt the people who legally possess firearms who are causing all the problems. By restricting law abiding citizen's gun rights crime rate will not go down, it will probably increase because there will only be the criminals in possesion of the firearms and no citizens to protect themselves

Maybe because in this AZ case the gun was legally purchased. I'm not so sure this fellow would have been able to obtain a CHL in Texas. His disruptive behavior and odd ways may have manifest themselves during the required 10-15 class.

Dem. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy Plans New Gun Control Bill in Wake of Giffords Shooting

I can't say I disagree with having regulations on 30+ magazines.

Another one who thinks that making some gun illegal will stop someone from murdering people -- as if THAT isn't already illegal? Yes, I know crooks will often pick which laws they will break, but Ms. McCarthy doesn't get to do the picking.
Anti-gunners seem to believe that if we just pass enough laws, we can have utopia. Unfortunately, utopia is NOT one of our choices.

    Deja vu

washington — the house wednesday passed what could become the first major federal gun control law in over a decade, spurred by the virginia tech campus killings and buttressed by national rifle association help.

Nothing “knee-jerk” about it. I am sure that she, and her staff, have several different versions of gun control legislation all ready drawn up and ready to go... just waiting for the right tragedy to allow her to push her agenda.

I wonder if he had murdered and injured all those people by driving an Suburban though the crowd if she'd be on board to ban all SUVs?

Responding to this from post 11, "He will introduce a bill that would make it a crime for anyone to use language or symbols that could be seen as threatening or violent against a federal official, including a member of Congress," OD* wrote:

Do you think it is OK to threaten Federal Officials and elected representatives, or anyone else? Why shouldn't threatening be a crime?

Threats aren't a free speech issue.

Did I write that? Talk about knee-jerk reactions.
Threatening someone is already a crime, why are they entitled to more?

So if you want crippled magazines, go right ahead and get them FOR YOURSELF!

this is another stupid, not well reasoned knee jerk reaction. CALL and voice your opinion. that can stop this stupid reaction.
COuldn't have said it better. Why make laws to prevent people from breaking laws?
