Remember the '86 Hughes Amendment? This will make your blood boil.

It was added to FOPA at the last minute and failed the voice vote but Charlie Rangel falsified the congressional record. Here's a short excerpt: Hughes Amendment Vote

And here it is in its entirety:

    video 3
    video 4

Kind of reminds me of the old adage along the lines of, "Those who like sausage and law, ought to avoid learning how either are made."

Unfortunately, there is no legal remedy, but righteous outrage may prevent these sorts of shenanigans from being pulled again. It may also serve as a wedge for its eventual repeal once we've nailed SCOTUS down on the extent of our Second Amendment protections.

I was just about to post this over here. The arfcommer who went to the trouble of getting this footage and making it public deserves a big pat on the back! Even if it goes nowhere, as some are predicting it will, the footage is out and available to anyone now.
"A well-educated electorate, being necessary to the continuance of a free state, the right of the people to keep and read books shall not be infringed."
Is this hard to understand? Then why does it get unintelligible to some people when 5 little words are changed?

Yeah, it was actually AJAX22 from Calguns.net who obtained the video from the Library of Congress and did all of the editing and the Calguns Foundation also deserves credit for hosting the videos.

I am confused about the disclaimer at the beginning of the video, “ may not be used for political or financial” ???? it is footage of the house of rep, there is no other function other than political..

To quote someone from another forum: "Vote 73 was NOT for the amendment. It was for a motion to rise, wherein rules of debate return from those of a committee to those of the full House. Vote 74 was for the Hughes Amendment, which was close but Rangel ruled it in favor of the ayes and nobody challenged it."

Again, we in the pro-gun movement frantically swing at phantoms when plenty of real issues exist.
