    Talking Changing the FL gun control climate

    I just noticed this article http://www.bradenton.com/2011/01/26/...egulation.html in the Bradenton Herald today.

    Really liked the way the story leans:
    ===========================
    The explosion of gun violence hasn’t gone unnoticed in the state Capitol, where lawmakers in the pro-gun Florida Legislature say the tragedies underscore the need to loosen the regulation of guns -- rather than restrict them.
    “What these cases show is that gun-regulation doesn’t keep guns away from criminals,” said Sen. Greg Evers. “It’s time we get more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens so they can protect themselves. You don’t bring a knife to a gun fight.”

    Three bills are going to the legislature, and all appeal to me:

    •House Bill 45 would ban local governments from regulating guns.
    •Senate Bill 234 would allow permit holders to carry guns in the open
    •Senate Bill 432 would bar doctors from asking patients about guns in their homes

    There is already a law which establishes state supremacy in this area. (Preemption)

    What I read on House bill 45 is it establishes a fine on municipalities that have/create gun/ammunition laws in violation of state preemption statutes. Doing so is already "null and void" per state statute but there's no penalty implied.

    HI, Leon.

    This bill gives what there currently is not-teeth to the law. In other words, there are consequences to municipalities who choose not to obey state law.

    Hope you are doing well. Shalom. (I'm preaching on 'shalom' this week)
