On May 29, 2011, the Baltimore Police Criminal Intelligence Section issued an "Intelligence Bulletin" warning officers about persons displaying the 2nd Amendment decal pictured here. The bulletin contains the following caption in bold red letters:
"....while the individual who is displaying the symbol may not be armed, the presence of the symbol provides an early warning indicator that you MAY be about to encounter an armed individual."
It apparently never occurred to the Intelligence Section that perhaps we the people could use a warning that the presence of a badge provides an early warning that we are about to encounter an armed individual. While this may seem a bit sarcastic, it is certainly not unfair for Maryland citizens to have reason for concern when they are approached by an officer. This is especially true when the officers are overly tense because they have been warned that a citizen with a decal or patch MAY be armed.

Lets not forget that NRA decal, people that exercise their rights under the Constitution are a threat to people that would love to tell you they are sworn to uphold the constitution until they believe theres certain parts that don't apply to them

Just guessing but I'd imagine the citizens of Baltimore would be better served if that police attention was directed toward gang activities.

Gun Hating Mayors
Isn't Balitmore's Mayor meeting with New York's Mayor to develop new gun laws?
Is Criminal Intelligence Section an OxyMoron?
As a note, I don't advertise I'm carring with bumper stickers and/or decals. I do wear T-shirts with support messages when going to an event. I do post a sign at my front door that states, "Nothing within this house is worth your life!"
Fav T-Shirt: Soldier's Memorial Shirt
This shirt features the battlefield memorial, known by many, on the front and a poem by Father Dennis O'Brien, on the back:
It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag.

The Criminal Intelligence Section figured this out on their own, maybe they had a grant.
How about this. Anyone you encounter may be armed, then again they may not be armed.

I'm thinking that I wouldn't want to use this type of 'flag' on my vehicle.
Maybe they'd find reason to issue a warning if you just had a 'U.S. Constitution' decal? - This guy MAY know his rights & is therefore a threat until otherwise determined -

This is a crock. Back in the day when I was an LEO it was just common sense to anticipate that anyone you encountered might be armed. We certainly didn't need a bulletin to tell us so.

That is because the schools taught us to think. That is, sadly, not the case anymore. The young guns coming out of the public education system are as likely as not to have thought this through enough to consider all stops potentially armed. It is a sad state of affairs.

As a native Marylander all I can say is the citizens of the state get just what they continue to vote into office. When I go to visit my son and his family in Bowie I am concerned that even carrying under HB-218 I could have a problem if encountering LEO's in that state.

Even as a citizen, I consider anyone I meet as potentially armed and skilled in H2H. If I know them, the odds are we're both armed and skilled. If they have a badge, it's open to conjecture.

Guantes,
I believe you are giving those in LE, and politics in Maryland too much credit to understand the logic you have stated.

Really screw with their minds, place that decal right above a "Thin Blue Line" decal.

When traveling, I just go around states like Maryland and Illinois. I refuse to spend a dime in those self defense hating states.

I'm some forty five minutes away from Md, and I hate it when I have to drive through. If people were allowed to carry guns Baltimore might not be as jacked up as it is.
