BALTIMORE -- A mayoral candidate's plan to reduce violence in Baltimore includes a "bullet tax" that he said will increase the cost of committing a crime.

Otis Rolley said he would, if elected, propose a $1 per bullet tax on all bullet purchases in the city. The idea was part of an overall crime plan he unveiled Tuesday

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Like the criminals will ACTUALLY BUY the bullets.
Super clueless and political posturing. Bad combinations.

Glad to see he gave the public a reason to get another tool-box out of a public office.

What a completely stupid idea on his behalf. That is even more moronic than posting a no guns allowed sign thinking it will keep criminals from bringing guns to an establishment. Stuff like this makes me wish there was no restriction on swearing here....

Didn't read it all- couldn't bring myself to. The man's an idiot, and whoever is telling him that he's planning good things is an even bigger idiot. Not to mention how he will hurt the LGSs. If it costs $100 for a box of ammo in town, everyone will be going to neighboring towns for ammo, and all the other things they buy- because they don't want to have to stop and shop in more than one place. So, his plan is to cripple a couple businesses, spend millions of dollars, and not change much of anything. Good plan.

If they had a stupid tax, Otis Rolley would be bankrupted.

Rolley said the bullet tax would cause a decrease in "random firings that too often happen around holidays" and put a high price tag on the cost of committing a crime.

For a comedian, he's pretty good.

Nah. Chris Rock did it better.

Someone should suggest instead that the 'candidate' push for a tax on shoes - because criminals have to walk to commit crimes...& not all crimes are committed with a firearm. Plus, have you seen how many shoes are hangin' from the wires overhead?? Littering is a crime we can all do without!

Knowing that liberal hell-hole of a city, they will elect him.

Unless he was never busted in a hotel room with a crack hooker, with crack in the room, sent to jail, and then paroled.

Oh wait, that was neighboring city, Washington D.C.

Maybe he still has a slim chance.
