NRA/Federal Gun Law
I think during Katrina that the police took everyone's guns away. Then, didn't the NRA help pass legislation at the Federal level disallowing the local governments from taking our guns in a future disaster? Please give me the details. Thanks.

No, there is no federal prohibition, but the NRA has helped at the state level in multiple states to get such legislation passed.

Me too. Although there is still a possibility of Martial Law. If that happens, then the stuff has fully hit the fan and all bets are off.

Just because it's a law I will hold my breath til the next time they have a major disaster and start trying to disarm people,There are hundreds of federal laws on the books they tend to ignore on a regular basis

We too should remember that the constitutions of about 42 states and of course the US constitution guarentee the right to bear arms. These rights aren't invalidated simply because of a natural disaster. Could you imagine the repercussions had the police told the citizens they couldn't pray or read newspapers due to a hurricane?

There is a distinction between "carrying " vs "not confiscating".
Here, they passed a state law that does not allow them to bar "carrying " either for protection except in certain situations.
